Loud Garage Doors

A noisy garage door is not only a pain for you, but it will also most likely irritate your neighbours too. There are many reasons why your garage door may be making unusual sounds but luckily for you, there are a few tips that can help stop this.

The metal parts of your garage such as the rollers, hinges, springs and tracks can make loud squeaking noises if not properly oiled. Applying a bit of motor oil using an oil can can make a big difference and also helps keep your door in good health.

Nuts and Bolts
A garage door has a number of different fasteners, nuts, bolts and screws. If you’re using your garage door every day, this can cause them to loosen. When checking over your garage door, be sure to tighten all the screws and bolts.

Another common reason for a noisy garage door can be the rollers. The standard garage door usually has 5 to 6 rollers on each side. Be sure to inspect your rollers to make sure they definitely roll and not slide when opening and closing your door. If rollers appear to be damaged in any way, they will need replacing.

Automatic Opening System
Most newly made garage doors come with an opening system. If you have tried all these tips and your garage door is still making a lot of noise, then your door opener could be the problem. Any squeaking coming from your opening system could be a sign of aging and will need replacing by a professional.
